List of hotels in Phnom Penh Cambodia

SINGAPORE - Oct. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- A captivating blend of heritage and ever moving modernity, Cambodia's simmering capital is every bit an attack on the senses. From bewildering bazaars and glossy Westernized malls, to chaotically busy streets and harmonious Buddhist temples – Phnom Penh is undoubtedly a city of stark contrasts. Gracing the banks of Tonlé Sap and Mekong rivers, the city is packed with alluring experiences for every type of visitor: From the familiar, chic and trendy, to the gritty, charming, and delightfully exotic.

Occupied by Cambodian royalty since the 1860's when it was built, the Royal Palace is one of Phnom Penh's grandest landmarks. Set within immaculately groomed grounds, the complex is a striking example of Khmer architecture, with its gold toned roofs, intricate spires and ornate stone work. Equally mesmerizing is Wat Phnom, the capital's most important Buddhist temple. Dominating the surrounding cityscape from its hilltop plinth, the temple complex sits within calm inducing gardens. A center for traditional celebrations, a sacred bronze Buddha statue and murals adorn the Sanctuary's palatial interior. If shopping is more your religion, make a pilgrimage to Central Market, an endless labyrinth of stalls housed within a vast domed Art Deco building. A souvenir hunting ground and a sensory overload, here you'll find everything from food and flowers, to fabrics, clothes and jewelry. For history, the National Museum of Cambodia is a must-visit. The museum hordes over 14,000 treasures, including one of the world's largest collections of Khmer art.

There's a huge variety of hotels in Cambodia Phnom Penh to choose from. From shiny city center high rise hotels and wholesome holiday resorts, to chic boutique accommodation and budget sleepovers galore – the city has something for every pocket and preference. Luxury in the capital comes in ritzy 5-star style, providing every amenity and indulgence under the sun. Expect pampering spas, infinity pools, and posh nosh restaurants complete with tinkering ivories whilst you dine. Whilst less decadent, you'll find the more modest hotels in Phnom Penh equally well equipped. Swimming pools and fitness facilities are both common features, whilst mod-cons such as cable television and WiFi are not overlooked either.

Basing yourself in the capital's buzzing center puts you a walk, taxi or tuk-tuk ride away from all of the city's best attractions. It's also where you'll find most of the hotels in Phnom Penh, along with the largest concentration of restaurants, shops, Western-style malls and traditional markets. A blend of historic marvels, revitalized architecture and seen-better-days buildings, the streets brim with compelling sights. Gracing the water's edge nearby you'll find Riverside. Still relatively central, the waterfront stretch is lined with Colonial buildings. Now occupied by a vibrant collection of cafés, bars, and restaurants, it's a particularly popular tourist haunt come evening.

Phnom Penh International Airport is the main gateway into Cambodia, conveniently situated just 7 kilometers west of the capital itself. Should you need a connecting flight there are plenty of services to other major airports, including Hong Kong International, Beijing Capital International, and Bangkok's Suvamabhumi Airport. Once you've landed at Phnom Penh International, a taxi or tuk-tuk can whisk you to your hotel for a small fare. Being the capital city, Phnom Penh is also reachable via many bus and coach services from around the country. Many make a stop at the city's bus station, situated right by Central Market.
