Fiesta "Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa"

MILWAUKEE - Oct. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- "Having the best time ever" is the only reason to go to a fiesta, and when the School Sisters of St. Francis host their annual "Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa" fiesta, visitors will know they came to the right place! For the fourth year in a row, St. Joseph Center, the convent at 27th St. and Greenfield Ave., will be opening its doors for an intergenerational party on Saturday, November 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Sponsored by the community of Catholic sisters, and supported by a generous gift from We Energies Foundation, neighbors and friends are welcome for delicious food, dancing, crafts, and more.

Families are invited to the 4 p.m. bilingual Mass in the convent's beautiful historic St. Joseph Chapel. The celebrant is Father Norberto Sandoval of St. Roman's Parish and host of the Archdiocesan radio program,"Viviendo Nuestra Fe." Liturgical music will be provided by the Spanish-language choir of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Immediately following the Mass, fiesta fare will be sold by local restaurants:  El CaƱaveral, La CaribeƱa, and Lopez Bakery.

A five-piece band, the Mambo All-Stars coming in from Chicago, are this year's featured performers. A global reflections art exhibit in the convent's Alfons Art Gallery, free family portraits, craft workshops, and children's story time round out the fun.

The night will also be filled with excitement, as lucky winners are announced to receive beautiful artwork painted by artist sisters and other great prizes donated by the Wisconsin Bike Fed and the bouncy castle company La Ranita Feliz.

"Each year, we're delighted that more and more neighbors are learning about all the fun we have at our fiesta. They have become loyal patrons of reflection and art workshops, concerts, and other gatherings we offer throughout the year, including some prayer services. We hope they will start seeing our fiesta as a neighborhood tradition," said Donna O'Loughlin, coordinator of outreach events for the School Sisters.

Food will be served until 7:30 p.m., and the festivities end at 8 p.m. Admission to the fiesta is free. For more details, see www.sssf.org or call Rosaura Solano at 414-385-5253.
