Traveling to a New America - A World Devoid of Nuclear Weapons

EL CERRITO, Calif. - Oct. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- A New Vision of Ourselves.  A New Dream of America.  A New Religion for the World.

These are the themes of his talks as author and speaker James Hilgendorf travels to towns and cities all across the United States under the banner of "Traveling to a New America".

"Traveling to a New America" is now expanding its program to include talks on nuclear weapons and nuclear abolition.

Hilgendorf has been involved in nuclear weapons issues for ten years.

In 2007, he visited Hiroshima, and produced a 40-minute video on Hiroshima, nuclear weapons and nuclear waste.  He then sent a copy of the video free to many organizations and groups across the country and created a week of discussion with these groups about nuclear issues.

Hilgendorf is also a member, for forty-four years, of the Soka Gakkai International, the largest Buddhist lay organization in the world now, with 12,000,000 members in 193 countries and territories around the globe.  Since its founding up until this day, the Soka Gakkai and its members have been on the forefront of the international movement to abolish nuclear weapons.

Part of his Hiroshima video can still be viewed on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfozG4FP1RI

Out of the Hiroshima experience, Hilgendorf also wrote one of his books, "The New Superpower".

The author states:

"From all of my experiences, I can talk about nuclear weapons from the perspective of the larger movement taking place on our planet today toward a globalized world, and the need for a new and broader spiritual perspective we have to awaken to about who we are, and who we have to become in order survive on this planet."

Recently Hilgendorf has given talks at Unitarian Universalist groups in Portland, Oregon, and Santa Rosa and Berkeley, California; the Ethical Humanist Society in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; the Humanist Association of the Greater Sacramento Area; the Humanists of Colorado in Denver; and the Spring Lake Retirement Community in Santa Rosa, California.

One of his books is "Life & Death: A Buddhist Perspective", of which a few reviewers wrote:

"If I were to teach a basic college-level course in religion, philosophy, or metaphysics - call it Spirituality 101 - this book would be required reading.  In fact, it would be the first week's assignment.  Having read all or parts of nearly a thousand books dealing with spiritual matters, I cannot recall another that so simply and effectively blends the fundamentals of religion and science." - Michael E. Tymn, Journal of Religion and Psychical Research.

Another of his books is "A New Myth for America", of which one reviewer wrote:

"I do believe a book like 'A New Myth for America' can not only spark an important dialogue in the world, but help us to look at the future with more hope" - Cyrus Webb, "Conversations Book Club".
