SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Sept. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- DCI is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at the site of Woodruff's newest dialysis center, DCI Woodruff, located at 251 South Pearson Street, on Oct. 4, from 5-7 p.m. The general public is invited to tour the facility, enjoy refreshments, and learn more about kidney disease.

"We are excited to welcome Dialysis Clinic, Inc., to the City of Woodruff," said Kenneth Gist, Mayor of Woodruff. "This great non-profit corporation will be highly beneficial to the health needs of our community. We look forward to having them as a valuable partner in improving the quality of life for our residents as our city grows."

Before the 13-station facility was built, DCI patients had to drive to West Spartanburg to receive dialysis. Dialysis is one treatment option for kidney failure. Patients typically receive dialysis three days a week for four hours at a time.

"Not only will patients enjoy the comfort of a brand new facility, but their commute won't be as long," said Brittany Dixon, nurse manager at DCI Woodruff. "There was a need for a dialysis facility in Woodruff, and we are excited to be here. We already have 18 patients interested in using this facility."

The open house is an opportunity for the community to meet the local staff and learn more about chronic kidney disease. In 2014, 2,043 South Carolina residents entered into kidney failure. DCI's chronic kidney disease education team, REACH Kidney Care, will be on hand to discuss how to identify and slow the progression of kidney disease before it becomes kidney failure. Once a person is in kidney failure he or she will need to have dialysis or a transplant in order to live.

DCI Woodruff offers in-center hemodialysis Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Each station is equipped with WiFi and a TV. Pending the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) certification, DCI Woodruff will be accepting new patients.

No RSVP is necessary for this event. For more information, please call DCI Woodruff at 864-476-5625 or visit http://www.dciinc.org
