Hilton Head Island Restaurant Group to Open Eighth Location in Historical Building in October

Hires Chef Hicham Elmadi, formerly of Hilton Head Health Institute, to lead the culinary team and menu innovation.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Sept. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Coastal Restaurants and Bars' partner, Brendan Reilley, has announced that Fishcamp on Broad Creek will open on October 10, 2016. Chef Hicham Elmadi has been hired to bring culinary expertise to the menu consisting of fresh seafood and American fare. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Hicham is excited to bring his creativity and innovation to the waterfront dining destination. As one of over 250 restaurants located on the approximately 42 square mile island, Elmadi's task of engineering a family-friendly, yet innovative menu for Fishcamp is no small feat. All eyes are on Fishcamp and Hilton Head as the Island was recently named the "Best Island in the Continental U.S." by Travel and Leisure Magazine in 2016 and is listed as the "#6 Best Island in the U.S." by Trip Advisor. Opening in the repurposed building that was the Simmons Fishing Camp, the new restaurant will pay tribute to the history of the Native Islander culture of Hilton Head Island.

"Hicham's experience and creativity are going to be a huge asset to not only the Fishcamp menu, but to the entire Fishcamp experience. When folks visit the Fishcamp, we want them to not only enjoy learning about the history, the backyard games, the oyster bar and amazing view, but of course, we want them to enjoy the food," says Brendan Reilley. "Creating a brand for Fishcamp was no small feat, but having Hicham on board really helps to hammer home the entire experience. We want everyone to enjoy the awesome casual and fun atmosphere, but when it's all said and done, everyone remembers the food; no matter what other great things are here," says Lindsy Bentz, Marketing Director for Coastal Restaurants and Bars.

The building housing Fishcamp on Broad Creek has been repurposed from the structure of the historical Simmons Fishing Camp. Charlie Simmons Sr., who's family still has a role in the property, was well known on the Island. Mr. Simmons was one of the first to transport passengers to the City Market in Savannah before the existence of a bridge to connect Hilton Head to the mainland, and his family ran the building as a social hall for locals for decades after the bridge's construction. Although a large draw to the Fishcamp will be its outdoor pavilion, the interior of the Fishcamp will feature relics from the past and a décor that will pay tribute to its rich history.
