Unlike a regular photo or video taken with a smartphone or camera, special cameras are now available, like Ricoh Theta S, which take 360° photos and videos.  Agents who own 360° cameras can now take property photos or videos and upload them to OpenHouseOn.com.

Buyers have two options when viewing 360° photos and videos.

The first option allows buyers to use their smartphone to view a full screen 360° photo or video by moving the smartphone in any direction to see various views of a room.  On a smartphone or laptop, buyers can also use their touch screen or mouse to move the viewing angle for both 360° photos and videos, even as the video plays.

The second option is to view property photos and videos in virtual reality. Using a smartphone, the buyer can select the "cardboard" icon at the bottom of the 360° photo or video.  The same photo or video will then display as two photographs side-by-side on the smartphone, as can be seen in the photo. The buyer can then insert their smartphone into a VR viewer, such as Google Cardboard or other VR viewers which can be purchased on EBay or Amazon. Virtual reality makes viewing very realistic as buyers can view a property in any direction by looking up or down, right or left, and feel as though they are actually in the room itself.

In addition, OpenHouseOn.com holds U.S. Patent 9076184 for Interactive Open House Video Tours™ which allow buyers to decide what to view next on a virtual reality video tour.

On search results, properties which support 360° and virtual reality tours are identified by a green OpenHouseOn.com icon or a green open house sign if the property also has a open house scheduled on the map.  Properties for sale use red icons while properties with video use blue icons.
