Storm Continues with Offensive Power

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Aug. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- Story by Storm Staff writter Scott Brouillard

Following last week's rousing win, the Santa Clarita Storm looked to continue their winning ways as they played host to FC Hasental. The visitors came into the match sitting in second place with ten points, while the home side were looking to make up some ground having only seven points. It was the perfect opportunity for the Storm to impose their will and improve their record. That is exactly what they did as they rolled to 6-1 victory.

Storm Roll Again

The opening half began with both teams trying to control possession and establish dominance. Nelson Peraza, Philip Bosacci and Daylon Schiffel all had early chances but were unable to finish. This was the case for much of the half as neither team could find the back of the net.
In the 31st minute the Storm were given a huge advantage as the visitors received a red card for a nasty challenge on Bosacci. It was the visitors, being a man down who capitalized first in the 39th minute finding a hole in the Storm defense and taking a 1-0 lead. They would take that lead to the locker room.

Second Half Sees Storm Rise

In the second half, following some changes by manager Oscar Moreno, the home side came out quick and immediately leveled the score. It was John Lopez who buried a shot into the corner from 20 yards out from a set piece. The score remained 1-1 until the 53rd minute when Francisco Perez weaved his way through the Hasental defense and slotted home nearly giving the Storm the advantage.
The goals kept coming as Leonardo Ruesch added another just four minutes later. He would score two more in the 71st and 73rd minute to complete the hat trick. Daniel Liamas completed the onslaught in the 86th as the Storm reigned down on the Thousand Oaks boys. The match ended 6-1.
That is 18 goals in the last two matches for Santa Clarita. An unbelievable amount of offensive firepower has put the boys in a very good position to challenege for a playoff spot. It seems as though the defensive holes from earlier in the summer season have been shored up as well. The Storm look to continue their recent this Saturday versus cross town rival Newhall Premier at Masters College.
