MedicationCoupons.org: FDA Approves Generic Tamiflu for the Treatment of Influenza A and B Flu

MIAMI - Aug. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- The FDA has just approveed  generic Tamiflu's (oseltamivir phosphate by  Roche)  Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for influenza A and B's treatment, in patients 2 weeks old or older, who have had flu signs for no more than 2 days, and for the prevention of flu in sufferers of at least 1 yr. of age.

The FDA's Office of Bioequivalence has deemed Alvogen's Oseltamivir Phosphate tablets, USP, to be bioequivalent, and as a consequence, therapeutically of equal effectiveness to Tamiflu.

Oseltamivir, which is sold as Tamiflu, is an oral antiviral drug used for the treatment of influenza A and influenza B flu, and as a post-exposure flu prevention regiment.  It's active ingredient, Oseltamivir Phosphate, is an ethyl ester pro-drug requiring ester hydrolysis for conversion to its oseltamivir carboxylate active form.  Oseltamivir carboxylate is an inhibitor of influenza virus neuraminidase which affects the discharge of viral particles. Its antiviral action towards lab traces and medical isolates of influenza virus was determined in cell culture.

Oseltamivir Phosphate is expected to be available in 30mg, 45mg, and 75mg  pill doses.
