Zurn Introduces an Industry-First Elevator Trench Drain System

ERIE, Pa. - Aug. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Zurn Industries, LLC launches the patent-pending Z895-94 Elevator Trench Drain System. Designed to fulfill a market need following changes in building and fire codes in some areas of the country, this new stainless steel linear trench drain limits automatic sprinkler water from entering the elevator shaft thus protecting fire personnel from cascading water and allowing emergency egress.

The Zurn Z895-94 Elevator Trench Drain System is installed at the elevator threshold or in front of an elevator bank to quickly evacuate water up to 100 gpm to protect fire personnel and evacuees. The Z895-94 meets California building codes, San Francisco fire code, and is positioned to meet future code adoption.

The new Zurn Elevator Trench Drain System has a channel width of 13-1/2" and an 11-3/8" throat made-to-order in a minimum length of 36" and a maximum length of 96". The Z895-94 comes standard with a 4NH custom-tapered no-hub bottom outlet, a -SWG stainless wire grate (SWG), -AS anchoring straps (AS), and a -VP vandal-proof (VP) lockdown system.

This new system is a single-piece, ADA compliant grating that fits securely to the channel allowing barrier-free mobility. The Z895-94 can be completely customized to meet installation needs and building aesthetics. It is ideal for a number of applications, including multi-use high rise buildings, educational facilities, healthcare facilities, and a variety of commercial spaces.
