By: Columbia University The Foundation also engraved its name in the new building through its contribution to build the Choudhrie Family Student Lounge – a recreational place for medical students who have to go through hectic schedules every day. Both Sudhir and Anita Choudhrie with son Dhairya attended the ceremony. Lee Goldman, Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center reaffirmed his friendship with Sudhir by staying "My good friends Bunny (Sudhir) and Anita Choudhrie are major benefactors for the building and great friends of Columbia." He also added, "I want to thank you for contributing your friendship and how much you mean to all of us here at the medical center." Sudhir Choudhrie underwent a successful heart transplant owing to the medical center's doctors. The thankful family then donated a sum of $2.5 million to kick-start the Sudhir Choudhrie Professorship of Cardiology. Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger referred to the Choudhries and other donors as "Columbian families through and through; you just can't say enough about what these families have done for Columbia." Lots of effort was put into the building's construction which has striking architecture. The infrastructure is completed by technologically advanced classrooms, collaboration spaces and a modern simulation center.
