Pyramid screen operation suggestion

There are 2 suggestion on corrugated shaker screens. How do we select PMD screen? How to operate?

Pyramid screens in brief. If I was asked for increasing the process rate then I would also focus on screen mesh sizes to correspond with the angle of shale shakers. Solids control is one the most trickiest part of drilling, how to make it simple? "Its all about SEPARATION" its not a magic science, your separation machines separates either base on differences in Sizes of particles or differences in Gravities of particles, LG Solids mostly can discard by your Centrifuges and under a very low feed rate and very high speed, However the percentage of LGS you can remove via screening devices is in direct correspondence with the DEGRADATION percentage of particles (cuttings) while they are in touch with the displacement pumps, drilling bits and most importantly the SCREENS.

Consider the return flow passes the distribution channel and touches the screens of first shaker w/o having a gumbo removal shaker, then which type of screen will degrade your Low Gravity, Large Sized particle more? The flat screen or pyramid screen? To decrease your LGS (the worst type of cuttings) is to get ride of them when they are simply BIG in size! because they are naturally SMALL in gravity.

Another part of your question concerns your SCE's handling capacity, Look, refer to a research in "oil field preview" magazine, around 80-85% of drilling fluids in your entire active pits and wellbore will get the chance to touch your screening devices whereas only 20-15% of the same fluids will pass through your Centrifuges, so the handling capacity in SC refers to capacity of shale shaker which is depending on conductance rate of your screens, mesh size, screen's angle, G force and screening area(surface area). http://shakerscreens.org/shale-shaker-screen/pyramid-shak...

The more retention time on screens, results in more separation and dryer cuttings but more retention time may also increase the DEGRADATION rate unfortunately, so here the challenge of SCE handling begins, to have more retention on your shaker screens you'll need to have the larger pool depth, in highest flow rate, Around 2/3 of your entire surface area(around 3.5 screens of your 4 beds shaker) will get wet, so with a proper angle and mesh size your shaker screens will have an effective role to play, they will either increase the process and the separation percentage if you choose the A)right mesh/API size, B) right type of screen depending on OBM/WBM/DBM C) the correct sequence and integration in type.

If you choose pyramids, then the 1st pyramid screen on the1st bed (looking at shaker from the distribution end) should almost sink and the 2nd as well, so consider what will happen when a pyramid screen has completely covered by DF, the top peak part of the triangle will almost work as a flat screen but the cavern part of pyramid will act as a dust bin, and it's surface will gradually disappear from screening area and works as a hauling channel of solids instead of separation part! So it will fail, either to achieve the capacity or quality. Furthermore, you can combine the flat types in different mesh sizes

Another suggestion on pyramid screen is
With the screen selection and placement. The corrugated screens have been shown to be very effective when placed on the possum belly (flooded end) side while placing the conventional (flat type) screens on the discharged end of the shaker. Make sure to use the same API rating of all screens and adjust your basket level to achieve the fluid end point at 75% of the shaker bed. Make sure that the wear items on the shaker bed is in good condition to ensure proper screen tension.
