Solids control centrifuge decanter function

To separate solid sized 2~7 microns. Make the drilling fluid more clean. Or recycle the barite for reuse. The centrifuge is usually set behind the mud cleaner or desilter cones.  Feeding pump can be screw pump or submersible slurry pump. Pumps transfer drilling fluid from desilter tank to centrifuge.

Particles larger than 7 microns will be separated out of drilling mud. After the middle speed centrifuge decanter, we use the high speed or VFD high speed centrifuge to get rid of 2-5 microns solid or recycle the useful barite.

Centrifuge decanter size and capacity

In solids control system the centrifuge are mainly the middle speed and high speed type. High speed can be fit with VFD panel or not. The typical decanter centrifuge dimension are 450x1000 and 355x1250. The practical capacity is about from 30m³/h to 50m³/h

Under similar size, rate between length and diamter. The higher speed it rotate the smaller flow rate it holds. And higher speed will produce larger centriugal force separate finer particles. You know middle speed centrifuge separate 5-7 microns out. While the high speed centrifuge will separate 2-5 microns
