All Out Laughs Indian Style Returns to the Northwest

WAM SPRINGS, Ore. - July 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Direct from the Showtime special, Goin' Native, Powwow Comedy Jam returns to Oregon for one night to perform at the Kah Nee Ta Resort in Warm Springs.  Featuring Vaughn Eaglebear (Colville/Lakota) and Marc Yaffee (Aztec/Navajo),  the Pow Wow Comedy Jam tour will be joined by comedian Gilbert Brown, who grew up on the Warm Springs Reservation.

Powwow Comedy Jam tour was honored as Nation Indian Gaming Association's Entertainers of the Year in 2010.  Their CD, Phase Three, was also honored as Comedy Album of the Year at the North American Indigenous Image Awards in 2012.

"Our comedy has a Native American slant, says co-founder, Marc Yaffee, "but our jokes connect with many different ethnic groups  because we defy cultural stereotypes with our humor and perspective."

As a group, Pow Wow Comedy Jam has entertained at casino, clubs and colleges, including The Bellagio in Las Vegas, The Hollywood Improv and the University  of North Carolina.  As solo comedians, they have performed from Iraq to Alaska.

Host Gilbert Brown is a Portland-based comedian known as the Naughty Rez Dawg.  Brown has performed at casinos across the country and is co-star of the Not Another Indian Uprising comedy tour.

"We believe that laughter is medicine, says, Yaffee.  "If we can bring together indians and non-indians for a night of comedy that will give them a break from the stress of daily life, then we have done our job."
