Lanier Islands Sets the Stage for One Rocking Summer in Atlanta

·         Battle of the Bands: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 11 - The Gainesville Times and Lanier Islands are joining forces for the North Georgia Battle of the Bands. The first phase of the Battle involved local musicians tossing their hat into the ring with a bio, photo and digital sample of their music in hopes of winning votes online. The final phase designates the bands that earned the most online votes as Final Four, pitting them against one another to battle it out onstage before a live LanierWorld audience. The winning band will earn a spot as the star of the show at an upcoming Full Moon Party at Sunset Cove, in addition to a $1000 cash prize, 2017 season passes to Lanier Islands and a promotional package from The Times.

·         Monsters of Mock: 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 25 - Classic rock fans will want to start breaking out the air guitar in preparation for this 97.1 The River homage to the Monsters of Rock, featuring a jam-packed schedule that includes Tribute - A Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band, Running with the Devil - a Van Halen tribute band, Departure - a Journey tribute band and more* live on the Sunset Cove stage.

On June 18 - the Saturday in between these spectacular sets - the Islands will host yet another of its famed Full Moon Parties, where music lovers can still get their live entertainment fix with a DJ spinning tunes from 3 to 7 p.m., strolling entertainers like stilt walkers and flamethrowers delighting crowds throughout the evening and a performance from the Jake Clayton band from 7 to 11 p.m.
