| The Youth Fair to host 2016 Walter B. Arnold Jr. Youth Hall of Fame Community Service AwardsBy: Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition When: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, for dinner and a ceremony Where: Blue Ribbon Room in the R. Ray Goode Building, second floor, at The Youth Fair Coral Way, Miami, Fla., 33165 (Enter Gate #2 on SW 109th Avenue) Who: Six students from both public and private schools, will be presented with scholarships for helping others overcome hardships. Each student will be awarded $100 and a finalist plaque. Two of the finalists will be inducted into the 2016 Youth Hall of Fame and each presented with a check for $1,000. Why: The Walter B. Arnold Jr. Youth Hall of Fame Community Service Award was initiated in 2001 as a way to promote the accomplishments of students outside the classroom. Walter B. Arnold Jr. (1914-2000) had a 41-year history of leading The Youth Fair, including as general manager and president. He is credited with the vision of taking a small 4-H Fair and making it into one of the most beloved attractions in Miami-Dade County with a loyal following of more than 600,000 fair goers.
