HONG KONG, China - April 1, 2016 - PRLog -- As part of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRep) "Railway Safety School Tour" programme sponsored by the MTR Corporation, secondary school students were invited to create posters to promote railway safety and passenger courtesy. From today (1 April 2016) until 16 May, customers passing through Sheung Wan Station and Yau Tong Station may find themselves attracted by 22 winning and shortlisted entries from the poster design competition in the latest "art in mtr - roving art" exhibition.

Under the "Railway Safety School Tour" programme which was first launched in 2011, HKRep delivers interesting plays that integrate dramatic art appreciation with the understanding of safe and courteous travel manners, as well as the benefits brought about by railway development to students of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and special schools in Hong Kong.

"Apart from engaging and interacting with students through bringing performances into the classroom under the 'Railway Safety School Tour' programme, we encourage students to spread messages from the drama productions to others through their own artistic expression," said Ms Linda So, Corporate Affairs Director of MTR Corporation. "The messages embedded in each of the students' works are creatively and effectively portrayed to promote key messages about railway safety and passenger courtesy to the community," she added.

"We are very pleased to see our productions making a positive impact on students, allowing them to understand messages delivered from our stage performances. We are grateful for MTR Corporation's continuous support in the programme and for providing the 'roving art' platform to exhibit the colourful and creative poster designs by students," said Mr Anthony Chan, Artistic Director of HKRep.

Entitled "MTR x HKRep School Touring: Poster Design Competition", the exhibition will be on show at Sheung Wan and Yau Tong stations until 16 May. It will then move to Sai Wan Ho and Tiu Keng Leng stations for display from 20 May to 4 July.

"art in mtr - roving art" is an on-going initiative featuring temporary art exhibitions at different MTR stations. About 10 exhibitions are held each year to promote artistic talent and the public's appreciation of art. Interested artists and organisations may call the MTR Hotline on 2881 8888 to enquire, or submit their proposals to the MTR Corporation direct.
