Charity Footgolf Tournament in San Diego to Take Place on March 20th

SAN DIEGO - March 9, 2016 - PRLog -- FootGolf San Diego, the local force behind the fastest growing sport in the country, is partnering with Achieve Internet (http://www.achieveinternet.com/) to put on the first charity footgolf tournament in San Diego. The event takes place on Sunday, March 20^th at Mission Bay Golf Course and will benefit Feeding America San Diego (http://feedingamericasd.org/get-involved/donate-funds/).

The fundraiser will run just like a golf tournament, but feature footgolf, a new hybrid sport that combines soccer and golf. Players follow golf rules but kick a soccer ball, with the goal of getting it into a 21-inch hole located near the golf green 75-200 yards away. With the number of courses doubling in the past year locally, footgolf has become very popular with the large soccer audience in San Diego.

“We are very excited to be a part of this tournament,” said Colleen Ennis, Institutional Giving Manager at Feeding America San Diego. “Footgolf is fun for people of all ages and skill levels, so we hope to have adults and kids of all ages come out and support our hunger-relief efforts in the county.”

The 72-player shotgun tournament will be a twosome scramble, and costs $50 a player. Registration covers green fees, food, drinks and raffle tickets for prizes. Local sponsors and prize donors include adidas, Ballast Point Brewing, Polk Audio, New Balance Soccer and more.
