PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - March 8, 2016 - PRLog -- A first-of-its kind fun and relaxing educational spa adventure with your canine best friend -- “My Pet & Me Spa Weekend” -- will take place May 20-22, 2016 at the Desert Hot Springs Inn.  The event is the creation of two of the pet industry’s thought leaders – DEBRA HAMILTON, who spent 30 years as a practicing litigator turned full-time mediator and conflict coach over animal disputes, and DENISE FLECK, who has instructed more than 10,000 humans in animal life-saving skills.

Kicking off Friday afternoon with humans soaking in the natural hot mineral pools and their dogs laying poolside, the event will have a networking “yappy hour” in the evening where humans and dogs can mingle and sniff.  Saturday’s seminars will include “Pet First-Aid & CPR” and “Stop, Drop & Roll to Avoid Conflict,” while on Sunday, pet parents will learn “The 9Ds of Disaster to Care for Your Pets – Short & Long Term.”  In between there will be time to hit the hiking trails, take in a massage or just relax with your furry best friend!

Says Hamilton, "Proactive pet parents want to be sure they have the right plan in place for the care of their pet family members. If you have a plan, it may not come into play if you are not dead yet. This program gets you thinking and evaluating just what you need to know and do to keep your pet safe."

The Desert Hot Springs Inn (www.DesertHotSpringsInn.com) was chosen for its pet friendly environment where humans and their canine best friends can relax in casual cozy rooms.  There is a private dog park on-site with wildlife trails and dog friendly eateries nearby.  There is never any additional pet fee, size or breed restriction!

According to Fleck, a long-time Pet First-Aid instructor who helped Homeland Security with their program for K9 Handlers, “Pets are part of the family.  We need to know how to rescue Rover or help Fluffy feel better BEFORE veterinary care is available. By knowing how to minimize blood loss or lower a pet’s body temperature – not to mention performing CPR – we can truly save a life, and I have had many students do so!  It is also our responsibility as pet parents to be disaster prepared. Acquiring the necessary provisions and practicing drills to be sure every family member can handle all pets is a must!”

Limited reservations are available for the “My Pet & Me Spa Weekend.”  Cost is $399 for the training package which includes a two-night stay at the Inn, Wine & Cheese Yappy Hour, two continental breakfasts and lunch on Saturday.  Guests can invite a second human to join them in their suite for only $99 more.  Call (818) 951-7962 or reserve your space online at www.SunnyDogInk.com/schedule.html. Book massages directly with the Inn by calling (760) 600-0246.
