Asia Telecom M&A and new Fintech investment opportunities to be assessed at TMT Finance Asia event

March 4, 2016 - PRLog -- Telecom mergers and acquisitions and investment into Fintech are two of the top themes for industry and finance executives meeting at the TMT Finance Asia 2016 (http://www.tmtfinance.com/asia/) conference in Singapore on March 9.

The senior executive event, which is now in its seventh year, brings together leading telecom, media and tech CEOs, CFOs and Heads of M&A, investment bankers, investors and advisers and features 20 sessions and over 60 speakers.

Sophie Mathur, Partner at leading global law firm Linklaters has been announced as the host of the TMT M&A Panel, which also features Ajinkya Mukhopadhyay, Director, Head of International M&A, Telstra; Nick Swierzy, Strategic Advisor to the Group CEO, Axiata; Gautam Saxena, Head of Asia Telecom and Media, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; and Piyush Gupta, Head of Technology, Media and Telecom, Southeast Asia and India, Deutsche Bank.

“Telco M&A in Asia in 2016 will be characterised by the transactions that ought to have happened in the past, and now have to happen because of macro-economic factors,” said one senior executive. “M&A will be less selective and quick, compared to last year. There will be forced weddings. Financing will become a struggle as we move through the year and markets remain dis-jointed.”

The panel will assess the challenges of consolidation and convergence across Asia, expansion tactics for different markets, how to lessen the impact of regulatory and political obstacles and access to capital.

Fintech Asia is also a key session at this year’s event with Adrian Fisher, TMT Managing Associate, Linklaters moderating a discussion on “Who is leading investment into the Fintech space in Asia” which includes industry leaders Vince Tallent, CEO, Fastacash; and Raghav Kapoor, Co-Founder & CEO, SmartKarma.
