OTTAWA, Ontario - March 1, 2016 - PRLog -- WALKING FOR PEACE, AN INNER JOURNEY, memoir of the couple’s 5000-kilometre, 13-country, 13-month walking pilgrimage for peace, hit bookstores in mainland China and online retailers last week.

“We are thrilled and honoured to have our story reach readers as far away as China,” affirm the couple.

“When we first received the offer to have the book translated, we thought it was a joke!” laughs Mony. “The request came into my Junk email folder, and I was about to delete it, but decided to investigate it further. I’m glad I did.”

“It’s been over two and a half years of waiting,” adds Alberto, “but we are delighted with the final result.”

Already available in English and Spanish, the book chronicles the authors’ 5000-kilometre pilgrimage.

Winner of the Latino Books into Movies Award, among others, the book reads like a movie: characters challenged by their experience of life, a deep yearning for meaning, mystery, adventure, the trials of circumstance, serendipity, and of course, a love story.

This true story sees Mony, a Lebanese-Canadian MBA marketing manager at Microsoft, set out on a personal journey of discovery after her “perfect life” fell apart. Half a world away, insurance claims adjustor Alberto set out on a similar journey from his home in Cadiz, Spain. Destiny brought them together in Finisterre, Spain, the last stop on The Camino, the legendary “Walk of St. James” that pilgrims have traveled for thousands of years.  Together, they walked “The Way of the Soul” from Rome to Jerusalem.

Mony and Alberto’s chronicle of their journey carries us with them, meeting hospitable strangers along the way, confronting disappointing, even frightening, situations and, most importantly, confronting their own doubts and fears, recommitting to the process repeatedly, and trusting in life when there was no net beneath them. The book reveals the internal human challenges of the ages which is why, of course, these pilgrimages developed in the first place.

“At its heart, this book is the classic hero’s journey where the quest for understanding leads to dangers and triumphs, and often to the most unexpected of destinations: the encounter with one’s true essence.”
