LSPECS & pLog: ESdat Data Management

Feb. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- LSPECS and pLog continue to be taken up across the industry. LSPECS provides for planning of samples and the generation of electronic Chain of Custody files, while pLog provides for field data collection of monitoring or borehole data.

LSPECS and pLog combined yield real productivity improvements around sampling. Typographic errors are eliminated from COCs, laboratory requests are rigorously controlled, and QA data are automatically reconciled when a laboratory report is received.

For borelogs, data from pLog can be reviewed in the field, or office even while staff are still logging, which will be further improved when our new web-based borelog presentation software (see later) is fully available.

ESdat is a specialist environmental database system; used to validate, import, analyze and report a broad spectrum of Environmental Data as Exceedance Tables, Graphs, Maps, statistics and more.

ESdat is available as "ESdat Desktop", "ESdat Server", and a completely cloud (web) based "ESdat Online".

LSPECS (Laboratory Sample Planning Electronic COC and Signoff) is web-based, robust, updatable software that allows program managers to design, delegate and manage field programs from a single interface, thereby increasing efficiency, and reducing management/administration time (and therefore reducing cost).

LSPECS has been developed as an extension of ESdat and integrates seamlessly with ESdat, providing complete control of field program planning, implementation review and analysis of results. It can be hosted internally by users, or a Software as Service version is also pending.

LSPECS, in combination with the tablet based PLog Environmental for electronic field data collection, provides a complete data tracking and management system. Preparation, implementation validation and reporting stages of field program are centralised. Electronic storage of program information reduces the potential for error.

PLog provides offline Tablet (Android) based completion of Monitoring Programs related to:

• groundwater,
• surface water,
• field chemistry,
• water, soil and gas laboratory samples,
• Chain of Custody, and
• workorders

PLog eliminates data issues that are sometimes seen with

• Duplication of Field Sample ID's within a project,
• specification of the "Total" or "Filtered" status of water samples,
• missing QA samples such as interlab duplicates,
• loss of QA sample information (ie parent sample for duplicates)
