| Manchester’s Oldest Construction Company Moves To A New Landmark HQ In AncoatsBy: Armitage-Construction The £10 million turnover, 45 employee company, founded in 1874, has just finished converting a former electricity sub-station and two terraced houses in Jersey Street, Ancoats, into a stylish head-office. A fusion of modern building techniques and traditional practices, the company is confident that the new headquarters will preserve the building’s best-loved features while providing enough space to accommodate increasing staffing levels at the fast-growing business. Managing Director Daniel Armitage, a fifth generation member of the family, said that the company remains loyal to its 142 years old reputation and ethos, by taking the existing building, re-using as many original features as possible, including the iron work and beams to ensure the new headquarters blends into the Manchester suburb. Mr Armitage said: “Our reputation as a highly professional construction company has attracted all kinds of business over the years, including some prestigious projects such as the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank, Little Moreton Hall and author Elizabeth Gaskell’s former home in Manchester.” “This company’s reputation and service will continue to be based on the highest standards of quality and experience, which were laid down by our founder Joseph Armitage back in the 19th Century,” explained Mr Armitage. “He was a successful carpenter who knew his trade back-to-front and demanded the same level of proficiency from those who worked with him.” “More than 140 years later, the highest level of specialism on both heritage projects and more recent builds, remains at the core of our values and will continue to be one of our priorities,” Mr Armitage is now planning to give his staff the go-ahead to move into their new headquarters before the end of February. “We intend to mark our arrival with a formal opening ceremony and we’ll be celebrating the history of our new head-office, as well as our arrival in an area which has been described as the cradle of the industrial revolution,” For further information click onto: www.armitage- Ends End
