“Seven Days of Recognition for Small Business Owners During “MWDBE TRANSFORMATION WEEK"

HOUSTON - Dec. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Houston, December 1, 2015 – The holiday season is about coming together and this season two of Houston’s leading small business organizations are coming together to acknowledge the leadership of small, minority, women and disadvantage business owners throughout the city.  The SUCCESS IN BUSINESS® - Business Talk series and the Greater Houston Business Procurement Forum have come together to create an special week of recognition, “MWDBE Transformation Week – Dec. 14 to 18, 2015.”

The MWDBE (Minority, Women and Disadvantage Business Enterprise) Transformation Week was created to honor the collective talents and outstanding achievements of small, minority, women and disadvantage businesses, and owners, work in advocacy, leadership and a commitment to transform the City of Houston, economically, socially, and politically.  Nominees have created jobs, overcome challenges, and continue to impact individuals through the advancement of the small business community.  Awards presented range from Minority Business Warrior of the Year, B2B Connectors of the Year, and Small Business Advocate Public Officials to Minority/Women Business Advocate Governmental/Corporate Entity, Prime Contractor of the Year, and MWDBE of the Year.  MWDBE Prime Contractor Holiday Reception will be located at 4212 Almeda Road Houston, TX 77004 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 16th.  Registration is FREE, but required due to limited seating.  To register CLICK HERE (https://successinbusinessmwdbeholidayreception.eventbrite...).

“In 2016, we want to double the number of MWBE, Primes and Agencies expanding their capacity and this week is part of our plans for expansion,” said Attorney J. Goodwille Pierre.  The SUCCESS IN BUSINESS® Business Talk series is the brainchild of Pierre after years of frustration in watching MWDBE’s struggle to “get their foot in the door.”  The “Talks” are to increase the amount of information shared with [these] business owners and raise the platform for business-related conversations in a relaxed atmosphere. “…fosters quality formal relationships informally,” said Pierre.

Another part of the MWDBE Transformation Week, the Greater Houston Business Procurement Forum will hold The GHBPF Award Ceremony Tuesday, December 15th from 8 a.m. To 10 a.m. at Houston Community College Southwest, 5601 West Loop South, Houston, Texas 77081.  The ceremony will also recognize accomplished firms and advocates in twelve categories.
