Solidworks visits the Industrial Design Engineering Program at Mt. San Antonio College

Three Solidworks representatives visit with Mt. San Antonio’s Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) program, dovetailing world-wind visit to local Industries around California.
 
WALNUT, Calif. - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Solidworks Representatives Mike Puckett,World Wide Certificate Manager; Andrew Cross, Territory Technical Manager; and Annie Cheng, Senior Applications Consultant visit with the Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) IDE program to share the latest Solidworks software techniques and applications for 2016.

“This morning we visited with Disney’s Ride and Show Engineering facility (Anaheim) to support and answer any possible software questions. Off to Dauntless Molds (Covina) before our stop here at Mt. SAC,” said Mike Puckett. “Tomorrow we will visit Axial Racing (Tustin) and Oakley (Foothill Ranch) and Thursday we will do a similar presentation at Laney College (Oakland). Friday will be Tesla Motors (Freemont) to work through and see how they are implementing the product.”

Annie Cheng presented on tips for preparing for the Certificate Solidworks Associate exam (CSWA) and the Certificate Solidworks Professional (CSWP) offered through the Manufacturing program at Mt. SAC.  CSWA and CSWP are industry-sanctioned certificates issued to verity Solidworks software competencies.

Andrew Cross presented on Simulation and Design Validation using a Simulation Driven Design process. “We use these features to shorten the design cycle, minimize costs and time in development, referred to as digital prototyping,” said Andrew Cross. Solidworks Flow Simulation, pressure and velocity were also presented allowing students to ask questions and get feedback.

“Solidworks certification is an integral component to our program preparing students for work at our local industries,” said Steve James, Mt. SAC Professor, Industrial Design Engineering.

Discussions after the presentations centered on a possible future showcase inviting local industries to visit the Mt. SAC Manufacturing and Industrial Design Engineering programs to collaborate, connect, share and show off the recent equipment arrivals and tooling purchases.

“Connecting local industries with Mt. SAC has been a continuous objective over the years and we are always welcoming opportunities to provide educational resources,” said Max Lizarraga, Professor Emeritus, Industrial Design Engineering.
