U.S. Lifeguard Organization Meets With Cuban Lifeguard Organization

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Feb. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- On February 7, Max Lizarraga and Raquel Lizarraga represented the International Surf and Lifeguard Association (ISLA) on a visit with the Cuban Vadadero lifeguards. The ISLA lifeguards met with the Cuban lifeguards to investigate the possibility of a future collaboration.

ISLA is a non-profit organization, comprised of volunteers that provides training, medical supplies, disaster relief, and emergency personnel to communities in need around the world. Since its inception in 2008, ISLA has conducted over 20 humanitarian projects in 12 countries. The organization has provided 1,628 preventative actions, including 220 rescues, 188 medical aids, and 14 international lifeguard trainings and workshops.

“We are open to a possible meeting providing the Cuban Public Health Ministry, Red Cross and other key representatives are included,” stated Varadero Jose Ramon Suarez Dept. Seguridad Aquate..

Future communications will ensue with the anticipation of a more formal meeting to take place with an ISLA representative.

Max Lizarraga is a Mt. San Antonio College Professor Emeritus. Raquel Lizarraga is the Vice President of Development for ISLA.
