| Kent State University’s College of Business Administration Second HR Forum a SuccessBy: Kent State College of Business The forum’s panel consisted of Mario Cancelliere, director of the IT application development at the Timken Company; Tom Mills, director of solutions implementation & success at ISCHAMP, LLC; Amanda Gerding, internal communications at Hyland Software Inc. and Travis Roe, OnBase experience manager at Hyland Software Inc. Each panel member discussed his or her company’s latest applications of technology to human resource practices and how they have evolved human resource information systems. "Technology has transformed the management of a company's human capital and the practice of human resources,” said Mark Whitmore, Kent State associate professor in management and information systems and leader of the HR Forum Series. “In this forum, two top companies presented their latest applications of technology to this practice, providing over 300 students and professionals with valuable techniques and approaches to advance the human resource field.” Cancelliere has been in application development for more than 34 years. He has worked on several HRIS solutions including Mainframe, web based self-service applications, cloud based HRIS and Payroll for a global organization. Cancelliere is an alumnus of Kent State University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in computer science in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration in 1986. Mills has 30 years of experience in evaluating, creating, reviewing and implementing business solutions to address changing organizational needs. In the past five years, he has focused on learning management solutions and providing strategic and tactical guidance in more than 40 upgrades or new implementations. Mills previously worked with multiple HRMS and financial systems project steering committees, evaluations and/or implementations. He has also served as a human resources information systems manager for a large financial service company. Mills earned his Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Butler University in 1985. Gerding has spent five years at Hyland Software working in human resources, supporting work-life integration and culture. Recently, she has moved to an internal communications role focused on engaging employees through clear and concise messaging with a focus on HR. Gerding earned her Bachelor of Arts in public relations, marketing and human resource management from Baldwin-Wallace College in 2010. Roe brought 15 years of experience helping organizations solve business plans with technology solutions, both hardware and software. He has been in sales for the past 10 years at Hyland Software, helping organizations of all sizes throughout the world gain efficiencies with OnBase. Two years ago, he assisted with the introduction of a new initiative allowing customers to visit Hyland’s worldwide headquarters and experience the software, rather than only sitting through a standard software demonstration. Roe received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton in 2002.
