Thompson Spreads the Warmth by Donating 240 Coats to Children in Need
The Foundation was created with the goal of enriching the lives of the one in six local children living in poverty, and the mission of its signature Driving Away the Cold program is simple: to provide winter coats to underprivileged children living in the five-county region of Philadelphia. Since the program’s inception, the Foundation and its members have donated 220,182 new coats to the children who need them most.
"The Thompson Organization is proud to have participated in the Driving Away the Cold initiative for six years,” says John Thompson, Vice President of The Thompson Organization. “We are humbled to have the opportunity to support the welfare of local children and families, and to fulfill a need that many take for granted."
With locations in Doylestown and Philadelphia, Tabor Children’s Services is a multi-service child welfare agency that serves children, youth, young adults, and families. The Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency also provides a variety of services to local children and families which aim to strengthen and promote family life and stability. "It’s so wonderful to be able to give the children coats before the temperature drops. The children and parents smile from ear to ear when they receive them – they’re so grateful," said Roxanne Watkins-Hall, Foster Parent and Volunteer Recruiter at BCCYSSA. "On behalf of our agency, I thank The Thompson Organization for partnering with us to help our needy families."
