Logan Lavelle Hunt is a leading force in the insurance industry with 7 different locations in Kentucky and Indiana. The company not only offers property and casualty insurance, but also benefits management, employee benefits and wealth management. Nethery Insurance has been in business for over 50 years. They specialize in life insurance, car insurance, individual life and health care plans, including Medicare.

Originally founded in 1919 as Lavelle Insurance Agency, Logan Lavelle Hunt has developed a number of different niches in both personal insurance and business insurance. They have grown both organically as well as through merging with other like minded agencies -specifically strategic acquisitions of agencies where their culture and values matched. They have been in business for close to 100 years, serving the needs of individuals and business with innovative insurance and risk management products.

Nethery Insurance is a second generation family business, started in 1963 by Keith Nethery’s father, Oral Nethery.  Although Keith’s background was in industrial sales, what started out as a first generation individual health insurance agency became a Shelbyville staple as Keith’s father groomed him to take over the family business. In June 1991 Keith took over for his father and with his father’s passing in 1992 from cancer, he decided to focus his business on health and Medicare policies.

One of the main reasons for the partnership is the accessibility Logan Lavelle Hunt can bring to more insurance carriers for Nethery Insurance. Because of Logan Lavelle Hunt’s size, they have access to many more carriers and options for underwriting different policies. While Nethery mainly focuses on Medicare and individual health and life insurance and will continue that portion on his own, his partnership Logan Lavelle Hunt will open many more doors for his clients and help him grow particularly in the property and casualty realm.

Stan Logan, Jr. a principal owner of Logan Lavelle Hunt said about the partnership, “We have known Keith a long time and he has become a fixture in Shelbyville, Ky. As Logan Lavelle Hunt continues to reach out to other partners, Keith is an excellent example of our cultures aligning together.”

Nethery mentioned that he feels the partnership is a win/win. Since he is already involved with Motorists Insurance Group, one of Logan Lavelle Hunt’s large carriers, it will be an easy transition. Motorists Insurance Group is how Nethery originally got connected to Logan Lavelle Hunt. Trent Hunt, a principal owner for Logan Lavelle Hunt, had dealings with Nethery while he was employed by Motorists Insurance Group some 20 years ago.

Hunt had this to say about Nethery, "Keith has always been the epitome of what a client wants as an agent/broker.  He is always looking out for his clients’ best interest"

Nethery mentioned that although rates are the same across the board for Medicare, it can often be a confusing topic for his aging clients. “It’s very rewarding when my clients arrive having a lot questions and then I am able to explain their policies so that when they leave they understand it and think ‘I thought this was going to be a lot more complicated than this’ ”

Logan added, “Keith feels very strongly about his customers getting great service. That is why he chose Logan Lavelle Hunt to partner with.”

“For me it was a very easy decision to partner with Logan Lavelle Hunt. I knew they (Logan Lavelle Hunt) would take care of me and any clients I brought to them.” Nethery said about the decision on the partnership.

The partnership is also an opportunity for Logan Lavelle Hunt to expand into additional Kentucky counties like Spencer, Henry and Anderson counties.

“Although most of my clients are in Shelby and Eastern Jefferson County, I have a good presence in some of the outer lying counties and will really be able to extend the reach of Logan Lavelle Hunt’s services to those folks.” stated Nethery.

Nethery Insurance will retain their name and office location in Shelbyville.
