Follow on Google News | Homes of Promise Holds First Leadership Community Meeting, Casts VisionNon-Profit Org Focus to Help Churches, Ministries Host Christ-Centered Recovery Homes
By: Homes of Promise Founder Ray Adamyk wants to see more churches and ministries in the U.S. support Christ-centered recovery homes, including providing a program that’s already become successful in Izzy’s Place locations in La Verne and Ontario. “Homes of Promise is really in the restoration business,” said Adamyk, speaking to about 40 people in attendance. “We want to help restore men’s lives to what God had originally intended for them to be.” HOP believes true recovery from problems such as drug addiction and alcohol abuse is achieved through the love of Jesus and his active presence in men’s lives. The organization provides a safe, sober and Christ-centered housing environment for those who want to live with others who have a desire to look to Jesus Christ for guidance and direction on the road to recovery. Although Adamyk, who also runs a historic buildings restoration business (Spectra Company), has already opened two facilities for men who have had problems with alcohol and drugs through Homes of Promise (http://www.homesofpromise.org/ He would like to see each church in America sponsor a recovery home. “What I want to do with the rest of my life, even though I’m involved with the restoration of historic buildings, is fully involve myself in the restoration of men’s lives,” he said from his office in Pomona, California, recently. In addition to opening more recovery homes locally, Adamyk revealed at the meeting that he is in the process of obtaining a large swath of ranch land north-east of Los Angeles to be used for, among several things, a place urban youth can experience an outdoor setting that many have never experienced. “There’s something about God’s creation that lifts the soul and heals,” he said. “We want young men to experience the love of God through a beautiful setting and great fellowship.” Community leadership meetings take place monthly.
