EL CERRITO, Calif. - Oct. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- A new speaker series, centering on a new emerging civilization and world religion has been initiated by author James Hilgendorf, based on several of his non-fiction books, "Maybe We Need A New Religion", "A New Myth for the World", and "The Great New Emerging Civilization".

His latest talks have taken place at the Unitarian Universalist Associations of Santa Rosa, California; Berkeley, California; and at the Humanist Association of the greater Sacramento area.

These talks cover the breakup of many of the most closely held ideas of our religious beliefs due to the inroads of science during the past four hundred years; but also how science and quantum physics are once again reshaping the vision we have of ourselves and of our relationship to the world and universe around us.

Hilgendorf is a Buddhist, having practiced Buddhism for over forty years with the Soka Gakkai International, the largest Buddhist lay organization in the world now, with 12,000,000 members in 192 countries and territories around the globe.

"Our major religions", Hilgendorf says, "Christianity, Islam, Judaism, all espouse great ideals - peace, love, and brotherhood - yet we only have to look at what's going on in the Middle East, the ancestral home of all three of these religions, to see that something is wrong.

"People are leaving the dogma and authoritarianism of our mainline religions in droves, and many end up in the camp of atheism, agnosticism, or humanism, trying to make sense of and carve out a moral life in a world without God. So we have these two camps - those clinging onto the age-old heritage of their religion, and others who have totally discarded any affiliation with our mainline churches; and the rift and battle between them goes on and on.

"But there is something new appearing worldwide now," he continues. "It is a vision of ourselves and the world and universe around us that is completely in accord with the most cutting edge discoveries of science; one that is deeply empowering and grounded in the here and now, in the reality of everyday struggles and daily life; yet one that also connects each individual's life to the core of the universe and to eternity.

"Such a religion is being spearheaded by the Soka Gakkai."

Hilgendorf's books, in either paperback or e-book format are available through bookstores, or online through Amazon.com, Apple iBooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobobooks, Smashwords, Scribd, and other online booksellers.

His titles include: "A New Myth for America"; "The Buddha and the Dream of America"; "Handbook for Youth in a Muddied Age"; "The Great New Emerging Civilization"; "Maybe We Need A New Religion"; "Life & Death: A Buddhist Perspective"; "Poems of Death: Time for Eternity"; "Forever Here"; "A New Myth for the World", and "The New Superpower".
