Dfuzr Industries Receives 2015 W³ Award

Dfuzr Honored By the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts For Excellence in Design & Development

BOULDER, Colo. - Oct. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- In late September, Dfuzr was honored with the W³ Gold Award by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. They were nominated for their work on an integrated campaign, featuring both digital and out-of-home advertising work, for Twitter Flock, a global conference for developers.

The W³ Awards, hosted by the AIVA, give special recognition to "creative excellence on the web. (http://www.w3award.com/downloads/pdf/2015/10th_Annual_W3_Award_Fact_Sheet.pdf)" This year was the 10th year for the W³ Awards, in which they received over 5,000 entries of digital work from ad agencies to in-house creative departments to public relations firms. On average, less than 10% of all entries receive the W³ Gold Award, given to Dfuzr Industries.

When Twitter called in early December and needed a very quick turnaround on a microsite, collateral, a mobile application, and some out-of-home advertising to include a bus wrap and some snowboards, Creative Director Brian Leonard took the bait. Twitter employees were on holiday break, and the deadline was very early in the new year, in order to be ready for the kickoff of their Flock global developer tour. "With such a rapid pace to the national and international tour, it was crucial to build the event selector based on where in the world the events were happening next," says Leonard. "It was really satisfying to bring design, data, and video together into something fun and interactive."

"At first it presented a challenge because we needed to provide document downloads in multiple languages, and the UI had to reflect that in an easily digestible way. To win the award affirmed that we accomplished that goal with both the design and functionality," says Front-End Developer Avery Wolkin-Hadzi. Her sentiments are echoed by Art Director Dan Allan: "It was truly a unique opportunity to combine my love for motion graphics and thoughtful design into the creation of a website. Winning the award was icing on the cake."

Contributors to this project include: Brian Leonard, Creative Director; Dan Allan, Art Director; Brandon Schafer, Executive Interactive Producer; Avery Wolkin-Hadzi, Front-End Developer; and Nate Stewart, Jr. Art Director.

The Twitter Flock microsite is still live (https://flock.fabric.io/), with all of the activity archived post-event, which was part of the overall project. Says Leonard, "The post-event state of the site was also very successful. We were able to deliver a seamless experience before, during, and after the events." Other pictures included in this post reflect the collateral and out-of-home advertising that was part of the integrated campaign.
