Couture Explains The Molecular Breakdown Of Fat Cells From CoolSculpting

PHILADELPHIA - Oct. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- For years people have worked out at the gym and adhered to a perfect (or as close to perfect as can be expected) diet without a change to those smaller pockets of fat. As demanding as schedules can be, there isn't a week of downtime to spare to heal from liposuction. However, marketed as an alternative to liposuction, CoolSculpting is the non-invasive, no needle, no scalpel, no scar alternative.  The treatment is relatively painless, and patients often work or watch movies throughout.

The CoolSculpting procedure is fundamentally different from other non- or minimally invasive modalities. Other methods of fat removal primarily involve cell death by damaging fat with heat, high-intensity focused ultrasound, or chemical injections. Each approach poses potential technical challenges, particularly with respect to targeting the right tissue depth and unintended damage to other structures close to or within the fat layer. In contrast, the CoolSculpting procedure induces apoptosis only in fat cells to gently and gradually reduce the fat layer while preserving all other tissue. The key about this type of treatment is that the temperature is just so that fat cells will be frozen but the overlying skin, blood vessels, and adjacent muscles would be unaffected. Different tissue types freeze at different temperatures, and there’s a very particular response when fat cells are frozen.

Exposure to controlled cooling causes fat cell apoptosis - a natural, controlled cell death, which leads to the release of cytokines and other inflammatory mediators that gradually eliminate the affected cells. Lipids from the fat cells are slowly released and transported by the lymphatic system to be processed and eliminated, much like that of fat from food. As the fat cells are eliminated, the remaining cells condense resulting in the overall reduction of the fat layer. In the weeks and months to follow patients see an undeniable reduction of fat.  Because adult fat cells can not regenerate they are gone permanently. This is different than weight loss, because when you lose weight, you are simply shrinking the fat cells. If you begin to gain weight again, the fat cells swell up once more.

Couture has taken great pride in the results that have been observed in office. There is also a custom treatment to accelerate the results. Dr Anshul Gambhir has incorporated a fat dissolving medication to some treatments with great success. This medication is injected a few weeks after the initial CoolSculpting treatment and a follow up is scheduled 60-90 days after the CoolSculpting treatment to evaluate the amazing results!

A complimentary consultation is needed prior to scheduling CoolSculpting to discuss the treatment in full detail. This consultation can be scheduled online at www.drgambhir.com or by calling (610) 518-7546 (tel:%28610%29%20518-7546).
