September 28th Crowdfunder Launch for "What's In A Name" - The Movie Project

OAKLAND, Calif. - Sept. 24, 2015 - PRLog -- "What's In a Name" is based on the book, "The UnNamed" by Elva NelsonHayes. This is meant to be a source of empowerment for anyone who has ever overcome being the weapon between fueding parents. It is meant to give hope to fueding parents, aspiring co-parents, teenage parents, the heartbroken, the betrayed, the single mom, and the dad who is fighting to be in his daughter’s life against the stigma of being labeled a deadbeat. Hopefully everyone who sees it, can relate to one or more of the characters.

It chronicles Opal, on her journey of self identity, self acceptance, and self love as she comes of age. Opal is not dealing with the more familiar identity issues of race and gender, but she struggles to overcome identity issues stemming from being improperly named at birth by her feuding teenage parents. She does not have her father’s last name, and thinks she is the only person in the world not named after their father. You will see her personality and parental allegiance flip-flop extremeley, depending on whose custody she is under. She confuses loving one parent with betraying the other.

When the you meet Opal she is a young girl. You'll join her, laugh and cry with her, and cheer for her throughout her journey to correct her name, as she finally learns the power of self definition and self acceptance. You will see the teenage parents, grow and mature as they both harbor pain, anger, resentment, and mostly shame at their parental status. Grandmamma is Opal’s name-advocate.

NelsonHayes is currently pursuing a goal of $75,000  for the pre-production, production, and post production costs of, “What’s In A Name.”
