STAMFORD, Conn. - Sept. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- The public is invited to attend an Ambassadors’ Roundtable series breakfast presentation by Ambassador Peter W. Galbraith on “Iraq, ISIS and Syria”. This event will take place at the Stamford Yacht Club on September 16, 2015.

Ambassador Galbraith is the Senior Diplomatic Fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation where his work focuses on Iraq, the greater Middle East, conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction.

From 1979 to 1993, Galbraith was a senior advisor on Near East and South Asia and international organizations to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. From 1993 to 1998, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Croatia where he was actively involved in the Croatia and Bosnia peace processes.

Galbraith has authored numerous books, including The End of Iraq (2006). (http://www.amazon.com/End-Iraq-American-Incompetence-Created/dp/0743294238) He is the author of published Foreign Relations Committee reports on ethnic cleansing in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Iran-Iraq War, the Iraqi Kurds, nuclear proliferation in South Asia, and the Cambodian famine.

Ambassador Peter Galbraith is uniquely qualified to speak on this topic, having advised the Kurds during the negotiations on Iraq's Constitution. Galbraith describes ISIS as a group that "underneath the thin veneer of Islam ... behaves like a criminal enterprise, relying on bank robbery, kidnapping, and extortion for most of its income.”

Galbraith holds an A.B. from Harvard College, an M.A. from Oxford University, and a J.D. from Georgetown University.

The cost for the breakfast and presentation is free for AR series members, $30 for Forum members and $50 for the general public. The event starts at 7:00 A.M. with coffee and networking followed by a full breakfast buffet at 7:30. The presentation begins at 8 A.M. and Ambassador Galbraith will take questions.
