New Opticians “Total Eyecare” Launches in Newton-Le-Willows, St Helens

ST HELENS, U.K. - Sept. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Total Eyecare’s professional team sell and fit glasses and contact lenses at affordable prices for all members of the family. They also offer eye tests using state-of-the-art equipment together with plenty of eye care and advice for all ages.
Patients can check with the optician’s practice as to whether they may be entitled to a free NHS sight test and also check eligibility for NHS optical vouchers - which can help towards the cost of contact lenses or glasses.

Speaking of the decision to launch his own opticians, owner Nirmal said: “For quite some time I was the Optometric Director at my own branch of a national chain of opticians based in North Wales. I built up an excellent reputation and in fact, whilst I was working in North Wales, I helped prevent a patient lose his sight by means of a thorough eye test – the story was featured in a local newspaper.  I enjoyed the work within that community but it was a long way to travel from my home in Cheshire.  Hence I decided to launch my own independent opticians in Newton-Le-Willows, considerably closer.

When I made that decision I wanted to ensure it would be a place where everyone wanted to come for an eye examination knowing it would meet their full expectations.

By investing in the latest, digital, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, we can examine and test our patients’ eyes – with each eye examination itself  tailored to each individual patient; we can then diagnose eye conditions and help keep eyes in good health.

We have kept prices low - but not at the expense of inferior goods or service. It is possible to give patients a thorough eye examination and provide affordable glasses if needed. The vast majority of single vision frames and lenses are priced at £45 – that`s it, no fancy gimmicks needed, just good value glasses at a very reasonable price. These frames include many with spring loaded arms that many others charge extra for. In addition, the majority of our glasses are completely free on a full value NHS voucher; including single vision, bifocals and varifocals.

Of course if patients want to try daily, monthly or extended wear contact lenses, we’ll offer a free trial to check their suitability.

Since the launch in early August, Nirmal and his team have been inundated with new patients, as word of his reputation and professional yet friendly approach spreads among the local community.  Yet Nirmal will not sit on his laurels - whilst in Wales he was accredited to be part of the Welsh Eyecare Scheme, where he provided emergency eye cover to patients who would otherwise be clogging up the local eye hospital. This system is soon to be brought to the Newton–le-Willows region and will known as the MECS scheme. Once this new scheme is up and running, Nirmal hopes to transfer over and thus be able to treat his new patients in the same way as he dealt with his former patients under the Welsh scheme.

This means that instead of going to A&E for minor eye conditions and emergencies, a person can be seen on the High Street at an accredited optician. This comes under the NHS so there is no extra charge for patients presenting with emergencies, or those being referred in by their GP.
