By: Kehsem Ms. Price is the recipient of 19 Grammys, A Presidential Medal of Freedom, A Kennedy Center Honor, A National Medal of the Arts, The French Order of the Arts and Letters, The Italian Order of Merit, 2 Emmys (one for her televised concert at The White House), as well as numerous honorary degrees. An advocate for the arts and human rights, she has paved the way for women, blacks, and all Americans. Her stellar debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, in New York City, on January 27, 1961 garnered her a 42 minute standing ovation. She is beloved not only in America but around the world. The passing of Karmen’s grandmother, also a singer, in 2009 due to Alzhiemers has been the fuel that has kept this passion project going. “Wanting to honor Ms. Price, on the 55th Anniversary of her Met debut, is also honoring my grandmother.” Check out Standing By - Leontyne Price on kickstarter.com and add your name to the list of history makers. Let’s make the 55th anniversary of her Met debut, “historic!” ### If you’d like more information about the Standing By - Leontyne Price, or to schedule an interview with Karmen Michael please email karmenmichael@ End
