Journal Reveals Seedy Underbelly Of Regular Guy’s College Life

C-student’s novel invites audience to experience the life of a slacker who does a little too much drugs, who tries to try (but usually fails), and who sometimes—just sometimes—succeeds in not totally messing everything up.

INDIANAPOLIS - July 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Set in present-day Indiana, emerging author Tyson Marie stares the college experience in the eye and, in the crude but at times surprisingly lucid vernacular of an unimpressed first-year student, relates what he sees without pretension, and not without controversy. With a naturalist bent towards the pessimistic, nothing –not his roommates, not his parents, not even his on-again off-again girlfriend, Rachel—is safe from the oft-frustrated Marie’s caustic thoughts and sometimes thoughtless actions. His first in a trilogy, “I Should Have Gone to Community College: Semester One” is fratire explicating the life of the common first-year student, and all the expected idiocy (and unexpected thoughtfulness) that goes along with it.

In an era of social media where everyone puts on their best face, Tyson runs the opposite direction, putting to paper the thoughts most people have but would never give the light of day. Written in a vulgar, refreshing and uncensored register, Tyson Marie turns the predictable college experience on its head.

Tired of hearing the sugar-coated tales of college after having experienced the real thing himself, Tyson decided it was time someone wrote a true-to-life college experience—the behind-the-scenes view of your average kid’s mind as they work life out for themself. Ever the entrepreneurial spirit, he began to write. His simple desire turned into this raunchy and realistic trilogy.
