Illinois Strikes a Balance in Traffic Calming Trends

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - July 14, 2015 - PRLog -- In Illinois, municipalities and law enforcement departments share the state’s most influential spot when it comes to traffic calming: they tie for the "Prairie State’s" top customer category in driver feedback signs purchased from Radarsign®. Using data from 2014, the study found that 31 percent of radar speed signs sold in Illinois were purchased by municipalities and 31 percent were purchased by law enforcement departments. While the exact match is unusual, it’s not unusual to see similar traffic calming trends between municipalities and local police departments where budgets can be shared through collaborative initiatives.

Additionally, law enforcement view city and county purchases as benchmarking best practices and visa versa.  This means tandem trends like this usually have some foundation of intentionality: one adopts what the other is doing.
