Fairfax, Virginia
- Marian Homes Inc., a non-profit corporation established to purchase and maintain group homes for persons with intellectual disabilities announces the Grand Opening of “Queen of Peace” House on June 25, 2015 at 3 p.m.

Marian Homes is inviting members of the media to tour the house prior to the Ribbon Cutting and Blessing and interact with members of Marian Homes, members of the Knights of Columbus Council 8600, Knights of Columbus Virginia State Deputy and District Deputy, Fairfax County Board of Supervisor John Cook, Father James Barkett, Pastor of St Mary’s of Sorrows Church, dignitaries, and the many organizations and people who have played a part in making this swift transition from concept to reality.

On February 26, 2015, Marian Homes took possession of its third house located at 7609 Gresham Street, Springfield, Virginia. That same day volunteer members of Marian Homes started the demolition required to make the house ready for its renovations by the contractor  Envision. On March 7, 2015 the contractor Envision began the effort to renovate the house and recently finished the interior. Numerous people and organizations have donated time and monies to make this house a reality. Recently members of Hensel Phelps Construction Company donated the construction of a great looking ramp for the residents of the house. We invite you to come out and meet those who have played a role assisting Marian Homes in acquiring the Queen of Peace home.

Marian Homes Inc., is a non-profit corporation established by the St. Mary of Sorrows, Knights of Columbus, Council 8600, to purchase and maintain group homes for persons with intellectual disabilities.

Our first group home named “Marian House”, was dedicated in August 1998, and represents the first step in the quest to help others. “Marian House” is home to five women, living together in a family-like environment, who are now productive members of their community.  Our second home named “Regina House” is home to five men, living in a family environment. One only has to meet these men or women to recognize the difference living in their own home has made in each of their lives and in the lives of their families. The third home named “Queen of Peace” and will house five individuals starting this month.

All of our homes are operated in partnership with CHIMES, an international non-profit organization. Marian Homes Inc. is entirely volunteer-based and there are no paid employees.

Join us June 25, 2015, at 3 p.m. at 7609 Gresham Street, Springfield, Virginia 22151
