A great book to buy Dad for Father's Day, this rip-roaring sci-fi tale is the first of a series.
The Earthling orphan Thomas Scott, former Navy S.E.A.L. turned mercenary, is on his first heist after having been involuntarily separated from the new Special Forces. After two tours in Iraq and three tours in Afghanistan, he had seen too many things that those in power never wanted to the see the light of scrutiny.
Combat is the only life Tom knows, he is very good at it and he more than just the physical scars to prove it. Tom has fallen in with a group of former Special Forces operatives turned rogue. Who, like Tom, have no other civilian skills and seemingly no other choice, except a life of crime to fuel their addiction to adrenaline.
That night Tom’s life is about to change forever. Tom is standing watch over the escape route when he is approached by Snarth, a mysterious alien, who tells him that the raid he is on is a set up. Snarth offers Tom a chance to escape the coming onslaught of federal law enforcement encircling Tom and his newfound crew. Knowing he will be considered the snitch he accepts Snarth’s offer.

Shorty, another human who bullied Tom as a young boy in the orphanage, killed Snarths business partner, swindling Snarth out of a great deal of profit and Snarth is recruiting a select team of intergalactic warriors to steal an artifact of great value from Shorty to recoup his losses. Tom accepts Snarth’s offer and begins a life unlike any he ever imagined.
Tom’s first hurdle is earning acceptance to the team. The other members, the Irishman, the only other human, who is best friends with Rowl, a huge canine fight master. They are all are the finest in their fields of combat. The entire team is under the tutelage of an aging feline stealth master who is one of the most feared assassins in the galaxy.
