SGS Informs on 2015 Update of European Kick Scooter Standard EN 14619The new version of the European standard for roller sports equipment – EN 14619:2015 - Kick scooters - Safety requirements and test methods has superseded EN 14619:2005 effective from 30 April 2015.
The following main changes have been introduced in the new version: a) The Scope has been changed: the user body weight in the old version is 35kg to 100kg while the new version is 20kg to 100kg. The overlapping area with toys for children from 20kg to 50kg is given an explanation: b) Classification of kick scooters has been added and the requirements have been modified in the following clauses: - Clause 4.3.2.2 parts moving against each other - Clause 5.5 static load test - Clause 5.8 endurance test c) Requirement for the ends of the handles to be covered has been added with the new test method in Clause 5.4, handlebar ends impact test. d) Requirements for the marking on the kick scooter have been modified with a new pictogram. e) Requirement for the marking on the packing: the maximum weight has been added with different weight classes. f) An informative annex regarding environmental aspects has been added.
