Cryptex 16Gb USB Flash Drive - Ultimate Geek Gadget!
A "Cryptex" is a special container which has a mechanical combination lock (rotating rings with letters or digits), which people used hundreds years ago to keep secrets.
Inside the cylinder there’s a container, where you can keep piece of paper with secret data.
Today it's better to use a USB flash drive for data storage.
he Cryptex USB flash drivewas engineered in the accordance with original sketches of Leonardo Da Vinci, and designed by Designed by Stanislav Tatarinov
The mechanical combination lock protects your digital data. You need to know 5-digit code to gain access to the USB flash drive hidden inside. Only someone who has the password can use it. A great way not only to protect the information, but also to add an element of a game into everyday life.
Nice and strong!
As you can see from the image below, the inner casing is a solid unit - which will keep your data nice and safe from prying eyes!
NB: The code is NOT changeable (you could probably change it if you were mechanically savvy, but its not recommended!)
Size: USB flash drive 6.5х2х2 cm; pocket 10x6.7x0.5 cm; box 18х5.7х5.7 cm
Will work fine on anything with a USB 2 capable port (most things!)
Material: metal, bonded leather
Capacity: 16 Gb
Velvet pouch included
1 year manufacturer's warranty
USB drives are widely available so it takes a unique approach to make one stand out from the crowd. Kindly sent to me for review I really like the design used, and in showing others no one could initially guess at what it might be.
It's fairly big for a USB flash drive, being about 6cm wide. That size if required for the 5 digit combination lock which is used to secure the drive when not in use. The code is provided, it can't be set, and it's recommended you make a note of the code before getting rid of the little code sticker on the unit. Handily if you happen to keep the nice box there is a space on the box to write the code on.
This is a really fun little item, feels very well made, and although there are lots of cheaper alternatives non are as stylish as this.
Fantastically geeky type of device. This device has 100000 possible combinations. Plus, if someone of slightly lower intelligence steals it, will probably multiply that by four because there are four sides that the numbers can be entered. But the code can only be entered on one of the four sides.
This was a complete spur of the moment buy and I am delighted with it. And in keeping with Leonardo's tendency, hide the combination so it is hidden in full view. But not attached to the device itself.
One of the ends of the device has a small sticker with the combination. It is quite hard to see but keep a note of it or stick it on something like a bus pass.
Unlike the original design, you wont break a small glass tube filled with acid that will destroy the contents if the wrong combination is entered.
Still, should you loose your combination it will only take you as long as it takes to enter the 100000 possible combinations.
