Beat Brasserie Co-Owner Collaborates with Winemaker/Chef to Bring Two New Exclusive Wines on Tap

May 5, 2015 - PRLog -- (Boston, MA)—Winemaker/Chef Jesse Skiles and Beat Brasserie’s Co-Owner and Beverage Director, Bertil Jean-Chronberg, have collaborated to create two new wines from Fausse Piste Winery, which are featured exclusively at Beat Brasserie in its robust wine on tap program.

These two wines are the result of an instant friendship between Skiles and Jean-Chronberg, two men passionate about food, wine, life and share a common passion for Rhone varietals. Skiles, a former chef that received his degree at the Culinary Institute of America, and Jean-Chronberg spent time together in Portland, Oregon where the urban winery Fausse Piste is located. Fausse Piste translates roughly to “wrong path,” alluding to Skiles decision to abandon his previous dream of opening his own restaurant and instead getting into the wine industry. Both having backgrounds in the restaurant industry, the two immediately got into a long, impassioned conversation about holistic wines that honor the food they are paired with. Hours later, and after fleshing out all of the different characteristics a white and red wine  should embody, the two men created two distinct wines that reflect their curiosity and ingenuity. Both of the wines are now available exclusively at Beat Brasserie by the glass, carafe or just a tasting:

Fausse Piste, “Marilyn” Viognier 2014, Stillwater Creek Vineyard & Conner Lee Vineyard, Royal City Area, Columbia Valley AVA, Washington. 100% Viognier

“This Viognier is viscous with a floral nose and discreet notes of honey-suckle, jasmine and orange blossom. A full and rich palate with hints of roasted Oregon hazelnut and popcorn butter, this wine is gorgeous and sexy, and reminds me of the voluptuous Marilyn Monroe,” said Jean-Chronberg.

Fausse Piste, “Tribute Cuvèe One” 2012, Outlook Vineyard & Riverrock Vineyard, Rattlesnake Hills, Yakima Valley, Washington. 50% Grenache (Outlook Vineyard), 47% Syrah (Milton-Freewater), 3% Viognier (Riverrock Vineyard).

“This wine has an explosive nose of wild peppery violet and plum with a rich bouquet of apricot comfit and stone fruit. With its jamming mouth this wine elicits deep ruby at the start, but turns to garnet with a luscious and warm round finish,” said Jean-Chronberg.

The Beat’s dynamic wine on tap program was created by Jean-Chronberg to enhance the guest’s experience, giving them the freedom to choose from 35 to 50 wines at any given time. Aside from the sheer quantity available, it’s the unmatched quality that sets the Beat’s program apart. Jean-Chronberg sources and cultivates artisanal wines from cult American producers, many of which can only be found at Beat Brasserie. He travels regularly to work with vineyards such as Opus One, Bonny Doon Vineyards, J.Christopher Winery, Frog's Leap Wines, Anne Amie Winery, Verdad and Qupe Winery to deliver exclusive, high end and unique wines to their customers. Their concept as a restaurant reflects the sentiment of the ‘60s and ‘70s: to be non-conformist, have freedom of choice and live a Bohemian life full of style in a chic and elaborate environment.
