PRLog -- Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center (AUPAC) is pleased to announce that the acclaimed Paul Taylor Dance Company will be performing at the Olmsted Theatre of AUPAC, One South Avenue, Garden City, NY, on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. The exciting program features the high-energy of Syzygy, where dancers hurtle across the stage like celestial bodies orbiting and eclipsing one another, and the beauty of Brandenburgs, which celebrates the good things in life. It also includes the powerful Sunset, a heart-wrenching look at soldiers and the girls they meet who mourn their passing. This work, according to The New York Times, first marked choreographer Paul Taylor as “one of the great war poets.” This performance is presented as part of the “Changing Nature of War and Peace” – Adelphi University’s year-long, campus-wide initiative.
The Paul Taylor Dance Company is one of the world’s most highly respected and sought-after ensembles. Living legend Paul Taylor studied with the famous Martha Graham, as well as Merce Cunningham and George Balanchine. His company, which he started in 1954, has featured acclaimed dancers like Twyla Tharp and Dan Wagoner. His dances are renowned for utilizing the dancers’ power and physique, while wrestling with large, difficult subjects like war, feminism, American imperialism and love and longing across genders.
