By: IntegraCare The volunteers’ dedication takes on added significance during April, which is National Volunteer Month. Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone will recognize its volunteers during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at 1:30 p.m. on April 21. National Volunteer Week is April 12-18, 2015. The Points of Light program was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. “Our volunteers are such an important part of the daily routine at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone,” said Vienna Rice, Activities Coordinator. “Our team truly appreciates all they do. We’re fortunate to have such a great group of volunteers.” Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone thanks its volunteers: · Michael Lewis, Tyrone Area High School sophomore, exercises with residents and participates in Sunday devotional twice a month. · Sam Brisbin, a veteran, helps serve lunch nearly every day his mother is at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. · Father Jozef Kovacik and Rose Long provide Catholic Mass and Communion regularly. · AseraCare Hospice, sends pastor Mary Emery to bless certain events. · AseraCare’s Kimberly Pugh, Romona Ward and Terrilynn Deavor, three social workers, volunteer to do bingo and crafts. · Wendy Faust volunteers at ice cream socials. · Perry Gillespie, a ninth grade student at Tyrone Area High School plays cards with residents. · Kami Nolan and Sami Moyer of Grane Hospice participate in a craft each month. · Rob and Denise Davis join other parishioners to provide a worship service as part of Arm of God Ministries each month. · Ken Patterson and other members of Bible Baptist church visit each month. · Aden Wertz and other parishioners of Church of the Good Shepherd provide a monthly service. · Pastor Roy Garthwaite of Grace Baptist Church visits each month. · Tiffani Grassmeyer and Erica Coppersmith travel from Martinsburg to call Bingo games or do crafts once a month. · Pastor Tim Young from Northwood Baptist visits twice a month and brings his children to visit with residents. · Pat Bujarski has a Hymn Sing every Wednesday. · Pastor Alan Kilian of Sinking Valley holds a worship service each month. · Pastor Jahan Vanlalhraia of Huntingdon visits. · Girl Scouts leader Sherry Chronister and her family provides cookies and milk to the residents each year. · Deanna Robertson is a resident volunteer who leads Bible study every other Saturday and donates cookies to residents in the Life Stories Memory Care Neighborhood. · OMNI’s Doug Sloey has monthly educational seminars and fall prevention exercises. · Olivia McCaslin-Rice, a sophomore at Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, helps with monthly readings, sets up events and does clean up after weekend activities. · Sarah McCaslin-Rice, a freshman at Tyrone Area High School, helps with monthly readings and manicures, as well as the event set up and clean up.
