Why do we put on weight? Find out!

Obesity is one of the biggest health problems in the world. Here are 4 leading causes of weight gain.

BOLOGNA, Italy - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- You might have already wondered why some people are prone to put on weight when just "stepping out of line", while others may indulge themselves with unrestrained gratification without seeing their own shape minimally affected.

Weight gain may be generated by various factors that often act in synergy. Rarely, is the cause just one.

Among the main leading causes, we remember the following ones:

·        naturally slower fat metabolism;

·        emotional eating;

·        unbalanced diet;

·         sedentary life.

Let us go through them, one by one.

Some people are naturally more prone than others to gain weight, primarily because they have a naturally slower metabolism of fats. This is undoubtedly an unfavourable factor, which, especially as someone is advancing in age, is often accompanied by laziness or drop of vitality, consequently getting tired more easily (age also contributes to an unfavourable change in metabolism).

A further "negative" factor is represented by stress, which can easily lead to emotional eating: excessive or compulsive ingestion of food can also easily burden your stomach and intestine and create a build-up of toxins in your body.

In the absence of specific diseases, the main factor for weight gain is an unbalanced diet, low in fibres and too high in calories. Briefly, if in your daily calorie balance you introduce more calories than you consume, your body reacts by "storing" fat.

A sedentary lifestyle, and thus a "low" daily energy expenditure helps to further exacerbate this process of accumulation.

Basic rules for getting back into shape

The basic rules to maintain or regain your shape are, therefore, the following ones:

·        a balanced diet and

·        regular exercise (to maximise energy expenditure).

A "push" to a bit lazy metabolism can also be given by certain foods (such as coffee, chili pepper, etc..) or by the use of food supplements (containing, for example, sea oak, to reactivate the normal thyroid metabolism, or ingredients with thermogenic function, able to promote the metabolism of fats).

Finally, it is always better to avoid too drastic diets or "do- it-yourself" diets, which, besides being ineffective, may be harmful to your health.

Should you have any doubt, before taking a supplement or vary drastically your eating habits, always consult your doctor
