Concerned about caring for mom and dad as they advance in years, especially when they want to age in the comfort of their own home? Shred those worries away by learning about the Oscar and  Ella Wilf Campus for Senior Living’s new program, Wilf at Home at their “Shred ‘n Bread” event on Sunday, April 26, at 11 a.m.

At the Wilf Campus, 350 Demott Lane in Somerset, attendees will be invited to bring old documents and bills, shred them for free, while enjoying a delicious bagel breakfast and being introduced to a program that helps mature adults age in place.

The first 10 people to sign up for the program will receive a free emergency radio.

David Rosenberg, executive director of Wilf at Home, said, “We are very excited to launch Wilf at Home in the Somerset and Highland Park communities. Through extensive research, including surveys and focus groups, our menu of services reflects the needs of mature adults in the area.”

“A Wilf at Home membership is ideal for seniors who are frail, experience frequent falls or are facing chronic illnesses, as well as healthy mature adults who are looking for the security of a program that can mobilize when they need help. The launch event is an opportunity to learn about the program and our services, and how we will help your loved ones live in a safe environment,” he added.

“I think we’ve created a very unique program model,” said Susan Harris, Wilf Campus CEO, when asked about the development of the Wilf at Home program. “We spent a tremendous amount of time asking older adults, professionals in the field, and family members what they wanted and needed with the end goal of the older adult being able to remain in the place they call home today.”

“We’ve studied numerous models currently in use  and believe that based on the input, we have created a hybrid of all of those things, the best of the best which will give our clients a very flexible opportunity to obtain what they need,” she said.

Rosenberg noted, “Wilf at Home offers a diverse menu of services for people all in one setting. Instead of having to research these different services and make the calls yourself, we are here for you to make that easier. We’ve spent time evaluating these different providers and ensuring that the services received are quality services that would meet those needs.”

“We’ve negotiated specific rates for those services, but most importantly we will do all of the leg work, we check their licenses, confirm that they are someone safely coming into your house, that our clients are getting the best value and that their services are priced fairly, added Harris.

Adult children of aging parents who are juggling their own children, work and commitments can find comfort and understanding from those managing the Wilf at Home program.

“We understand that they want to honor their family members’ wishes  to stay in their home and this is an incredible way to do that,” she said.

According to Harris, the “Shred ‘n Bread’ event will present an opportunity for a special sign-on incentive if they decide to become a member on April 26 or within a week of the presentation.

Howard Koransky, president of Wilf at Home, said, “We are very excited to launch this innovative program in our Jewish community. Wilf at Home’s unique menu of services will increase mature adults’ ability to remain at home safely and independently. We look forward to partnering with other local agencies and synagogues to enhance services and programs for seniors.”

“We believe that Wilf at Home provides the perfect answer to safety, peace of mind and the support of life choices,” Harris concluded.
