Follow on Google News | With selfie apps and selfie sticks the pout has come of age!By: SelfMe In fact, UK entrepreneur Hitesh Mistry, 28, has launched what he terms ‘the best #selfie app in world.’ Why has he done this? ‘I thought it was about time we had a calendar-based selfie application that allowed all of us to take selfies every single day of the year in the ultimate digital record. It’s all achieved by tapping calendar days that will add numerous selfies from either your photo library or your camera. One click and you’re done’ You might be wondering why that’s a breakthrough, especially if selfies are not your thing? When you realise that about 880 billion photographs were taken in 2014 and around 1 million selfies are taken each day you might change your perspective. You may not partake but plenty of people right around the world subscribe to the cult of the selfie. ‘I knew there was a need to keep track of selfies.’ Says Hitesh. ‘ As ego centric as that may sound, we all like to see ourselves in the world. It’s great to be able to see how we change over time. To be able to track old selfies too is useful. I know that being reminded just when they were taken becomes part of our personal history. We just store these things digitally in 2015 rather than in a conventional photo album.’ ‘This is such a flourishing sector’ says Hitesh. ‘ It doesn’t matter if pics are extraordinary or just, well, mundane, we all keep snapping away. Smart phones have totally revolutionised the way we document our lives. In the past, history books and records were filled with the deeds of the great and the good. The ordinary folk never had a look in. Now life is different. SelfMe will make keeping track of photos so much easier. I read a statistic that stated 10% of all photos ever taken were snapped in 2014. How crazy is that? I spotted a niche in the market and started designing an app. The great thing about it is that you can download it from iTunes for free. What is really exciting is that feeling that being an entrepreneur has never been so straightforward. We have tremendous power to achieve what we want if we make some effort. It’s a really fertile set of economic possibilities. Hitesh has been working as a software project manager and also founded Leadamo that has spent two years educating the public about how to get the very best from social media. ‘I am always looking for solutions to new problems. I guess my job helps me to manage issues and so my brain is always working and coming up with interesting solutions like SelfMe. I hope SelfMe helps people out and I’d certainly welcome feedback as we’ll be constantly adding to the app and increasing its features. It’s a very exciting time to be an app developer and I can’t wait to see what comes next.’ You can download SelfMe free from the Apple Store right here https://itunes.apple.com/ End
