ELF Takes Selfies and Integrates 3D First-Person Perspective Experience

SHENZHEN, China - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- It seems drone never see boundaries. How could self sticks possibly still exist if you’ve got a nano drone that once you spread your hands to throw off, it shoots into the air, hovers around you taking photos and videos? Right now the imaginary scene could be real with an Indiegogo campaign flyer called ELF VRdrone. It sounds quite futuristic, probably very sparking concept that makes selfie enter into a new era.

The 720P micro wifi cam loaded on the drone can be commanded by smartphone app, support both Android and iOS version via Bluetooth 4.0. Since there’s not so much difficult techs included, your devices can receive the video footage in real-time to share with social media.

ELF VRdrone is 14cm*14cm*3.5cm in size, not so “nano” as it claims. If you’re looking for more interesting trick, you can slap your phone into the “virtual reality cardboard”, you can have 3D first-person-view experience.

The creator, an open source startup from Shenzhen, China, also lists several interesting stretch goals like using head gesture or Apple watch to control the drone if they reach $500,000. They even think that if 3 children wearing the VR cardboard to partake in a 3D FPV piloting competition looks really cool as the scenes in Anakin Skywalker.

Though they still have some challenges lying in front in keeping with the cost, dimension and weight such as only 10-metre wifil connectivity, GPS not yet added, not open to some VR devices like Samsung VR Gear.

ELF VRdrone has the flight time of 7 minutes, now it’s crowdfunding on Indiegogo. With 49 days to go, they’ve already raised $62,633, 313% of the original goal.
