| Surgical Science Wins Gold in 2015 iF Design AwardsBy: Surgical Science, Inc. An international jury of experts evaluated nearly 5,000 entries from across the world, awarding 1,629 iF Design Award winners. Of those, 75, including Surgical Science, were recipients of the additional iF Gold Award for “best in competition,” “When we developed the SimFrame platform we wanted it to be sophisticated, elegant and easy to use, both inside and out,” said Hans Uddenberg, global product manager. “Our team has managed to pair cutting-edge technology with premium design that has established us as a design leader beyond the borders of virtual reality surgical training. This award is a testament to the designers, engineers and others who worked with a tireless attention to detail to produce something of global critical acclaim.” On their motivation for awarding SimFrame the prestigious award, the jury commented, “The design language of this medical simulator stands out by virtue of its clear structure and intuitive interface. The product communicates all relevant information to users and introduces them to the very complex themes that are dealt with here.” “SimFrame enables LapSim and EndoSim to give the healthcare community the features they want inside a sleek, modern and user-friendly package,” said Tomas Ragnarsson, managing director of Surgical Science. “I’m proud of the Surgical Science team, the product, its design and the fact that our simulators can now carry the iF design quality seal.” Established in 1953, the iF product design awards are one of the most prestigious in the world and serve as an internationally recognized trademark of design excellence.
